May Filming Update
May 15th 2008 -

A May Update from the San Diego Film Commission:

-The television pilot Mythological X that shot in Ocean Beach has been picked up by CBS for a series and is slated for their fall lineup.  The TV series is now known as The Ex List and will continue to film in San Diego.  This is great news! Ocean Beach will be one of the stars of the show.  The series will mean 150 jobs for locals.  Hotels, vendors and actors will also be positively impacted.

-The BBC will be filming a television show which will follow British kids participating in San Diego’s Junior Lifeguard program. The show is currently searching for two 6 bedroom beach houses in Mission Beach, Ocean Beach or Pacific Beach.

-Vogue, The New Yorker and a Bedford Fair fashion catalog have been here with their print projects.  Toyota is coming back to film another big project with many locations.  Super Nanny is casting and Best Damn Sports Show Period is scouting icon locations for their interviews with sports celebrities.

-Have you heard that TV show Ugly Betty is moving their production to New York from California because N.Y. is offering a 35% rebate to productions?  300 crew people in California lost their jobs and vendors lost their business.  With no film incentives offered in California, we will continue to lose work to other states.    When a film incentive is offered, more work comes and more taxes are paid.  Our governor has responded that our state needs a film incentive so you may consider writing a letter to him and our state legislators urging them to create an incentive.  It will mean more work, business opportunities and tourism for San Diego.
