March Filming Update
March 11th 2008 - A March Update from the San Diego Film Commission:

  •  The Golf Channel is busy preparing for an 11 day shoot. Locations include Torrey Pines Golf Course, Balboa Park, Rancho Santa Fe, the Wave House, Embarcadero, Barona and the Birch Aquarium just to name a few. This already sounds like a great travel log for San Diego at no cost to us!

 •  Disney is scouting a feature film starring Robin Williams and John Travolta. Their interest at this time is just for a day or two. An exciting project coming from the A&E channel is Crime 360 Top Ten List. This project would work with our crime labs and police department to showcase the technology and procedures that make our department one of the top ten in the country. This could be a great recruiting documentary! Marketing at no cost to us is always a good thing. Fox is getting ready to shoot a pilot for CBS that may turn into a television series that plays as San Diego.

•  Did you know that the San Diego Film Commission was the first film commission formed in California? The City formed the Film Commission when a television series was unable to get the assistance they needed to film here. The series left but the City acted quickly to form a film commission that solved all the challenges the TV series faced. The Film Commission employs staff that has experience in the film industry so they are able to anticipate the needs of film production. There are 380 film commissions globally that look to us for guidance because of our 32 years of experience. Stay tuned for more.
