| April Filming Update |
|
April 8th 2008 - An April Update from the San Diego Film Commission: -A&E Network has approached us with a project called the Top Ten Police Departments which takes a look at the technology used by the best departments and how they work. We are working with SDPD on that project. It could be a great marketing project at no cost to the City. Over 18 years ago we worked with producer, writer and creator John Langley on the first season of Cops. The Sheriff’s Department became the stars and set the precedent for many seasons to follow. Cops is back working again with the Sheriff Department for 8 episodes. Fox is shooting a pilot for CBS called Mythological X that hopefully will turn into a television series. Ocean Beach will be one of the stars of this show. -CBS is shooting a travel show. They will feature locations such as Belmont Park, Mission Beach, Pacific Beach, Ocean Beach, La Jolla, Gaslamp, Old Town, Windansea, the Lodge at Torrey Pines and the Hotel Del Coronado. Commercials that have shot this month are BMW, Lincoln, Jenny Craig, VW, and Honda. -Did you know that nearly 60% of all feature films originating in Hollywood leave California? We are one of 8 states that don’t offer incentives and since the bottom line is the deciding factor, they leave for greener pastures. However, nearly one third of the features on the big screen have scouted here. Maybe they will come back to San Diego for vacation after they shoot their film elsewhere. The San Diego Film Commission is working with the state legislature to try and create incentives in order to lure more business opportunities to our state and to San Diego. |
